Governor Kay Ivey, along with the National Weather Service and the Alabama Emergency Management Agency, has declared the week of February 18th – 23rd, Severe Weather Awareness Week in Alabama.
NOW IS THE TIME TO ENSURE THAT YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ARE PREPARED FOR SEVERE WEATHER IN ETOWAH COUNTY!

· Monday, Feb 19 – Severe Thunderstorms
*Seek Shelter Immediately *Stay Away from Windows *If driving, pull over in a safe spot
· Tuesday, Feb 20 – Flooding & Flash Flooding
*Turn Around Don’t Drown *Never Drive or Walk Across Moving Water *Prepare to Move to Higher Ground
· Wednesday, Feb 21 – Tornadoes (Special 9:00 a.m. NOAA Radio Tornado Safety Drill)
*Move to the lowest, most interior area of a building *Cover your head *Have a Plan
· Thursday, Feb 22 – Lightning
*Go indoors *Do not use electrical appliances * Stay off of waterways
· Friday, Feb 23 – Receiving Weather Alerts
*Have a battery operated NOAA Weather Radio *Sign up for local weather alerts on your cell device *Know your local Emergency Alert System, Television or Radio Station
ATTENTION: A special NOAA All-Hazards Radio test will be run at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, February 21st. You are encouraged to conduct your own Tornado Safety Drill at this time. However, AN ACTUAL TORNADO WARNING WILL NOT SOUND.
