Severe Weather Affects Etowah County
Damage assessment will begin tomorrow after a complex of storms brought multiple reports of damage in Etowah County. The Gadsden/Etowah County Emergency Management Agency received multiple reports of damage across the county. Agencies from across the county responded along with the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office to aid Reece City, Keener Community, and Boaz.
Due to decreased visibility and large trees still on roadways, authorities urge everyone to stay away from the affected areas. Law Enforcement officials will be patrolling the affected areas overnight until continued efforts can begin again in the morning. Only minor injuries had been reported to the EMA at the time of this release.
According to EMA Director Deborah Gaither, “We have received many reports of downed trees and trees on homes. We won’t be able to fully assess all of the damage until morning.”
