Preparation for Single Digit Wind Chills

Wind chills are forecast to be in the single digits overnight Friday into Saturday morning.
Remember, wind chill is how cold it feels outside. The Gadsden Etowah County EMA wants to encourage
everyone to make preparations now. Remember the “three P’s – people, pipes, and pets.” First, check
on your family, friends, and neighbors to make sure they are prepared.
Second, wrap your pipes to keep them from freezing. Next, provide adequate shelter, food, and water
for pets and livestock. Be safe with your fireplaces and other heating devices – check your smoke
detectors and use a carbon monoxide detector. Lastly, check your emergency supply kits at home, in
your vehicle, and at work. Keep up with the latest information on Facebook and Twitter @gecema.
